The Short Inca Trail is a 1-day hike of approximately 10–12 km (6–7 miles), starting at Km 104 of the railway line and ending at Machu Picchu.
Along the route, you will hike through cloud forests, explore ancient Inca ruins, and enjoy breathtaking views before arriving at Machu Picchu in the afternoon. After spending the night in Aguas Calientes, you will return the next day for a full guided tour of the citadel.
This trek is ideal for those looking for a shorter and less physically demanding experience compared to the 4-day Inca Trail.
